Oak Park Fire and Police Departments responded to a structure fire at Fenwick High School Monday afternoon, according to the Village of Oak Park spokesperson. 

The fire involved three cars on the fourth floor of the parking garage at 505 Washington Blvd., and has been put out. Scott Hardesty, Fenwick director of marketing communications, said there were no one was in the garage at the time of the fire. 

It was a Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle that initiated the fire, but the specific cause within the car is unknown according to the village spokesperson. Oak Park Fire Chief JT Terry previously confirmed there was not a Tesla involved in the incident, as other reports initially claimed.

The school was evacuated and no injuries were reported. Students and staff were able to return to class to finish out the day. Fenwick is hopeful that the fourth floor of the garage will be open by Tuesday.
